Abstract
The aim of this study is to examine the factors affecting sector preferences of entrepreneurs in Düzce. However, according to sociodemographic characteristics the factors affecting sector preferences of entrepreneurs whether differentiated or not will be determined. Additionally, assessments will be examined on the investments of the entrepreneurs. Research population consists of 386 entrepreneurs invested in various sectors at 2009 and later in Düzce. In this research, qualitative research design was used. Research data were obtained using questionnaire technique. Obtained data was analyzed using SPSS package program. As a result, the factors affecting sector preferences of entrepreneurs consist of four factors including respectively sectoral foresight, level of knowledge, advice of friend and amount of capital. However, it was determined that the factors affecting sector preferences of entrepreneurs have been differentiated in terms of gender and sectorial experience. In addition, it was seen that despite of foresights regard to entrepreneurs’ investments being successful have not been clarified, entrepreneurs tend to prefer same sector again.
