Abstract
Upon the replacement of the traditional life style with the industrial society, the seniors are faced with numerous difficulties in the economic, social and psychological sense. These problems are getting multiplied even further in rural areas and are advancing in different dimensions. Yet, it is the elderly who instill ethical and moral values to the next generations, in addition to knowledge, in many societies. And, the senior family members have a different place and significance in the Turkish society. The primary purpose of this study is to address the problems that the seniors, living in Konya province Derebucak district, are faced with and offer recommendations aimed to increase the life qualities of the seniors as based on the obtained results. Within the scope of this purpose; face-to-face discussions have been held with 46 individuals living in Derebucak, the problems that are most frequently encountered by the old people in the region have been examined; and recommendations have been developed accordingly.
