Title Of Article :
Determination of Irrigation Water Requirement for Erzurum-Sakalikesik Plain Using Computer Program
Abstract :
In 1994-1995, this study was conducted to determine the crop evapotranspirations, irrigation scheduling, and irrigation water requirement in Erzurum-Sakalikesik Plain which will be under irrigation in near future. The texture, bulk densidity, field capacity, and wilting point analyses were performed on disturbed and undisturbed soil samples collected from different soil depth of 42 soil profiles throughout the Plain. Furthermore, infiltration characteristics of all soil profiles and irrigation water characteristics of water samples from water supply were determined. The irrigation scheduling of crops grown in the plain and irrigation water requirement of the plain were determined by means of the Cropwat (V.7) computer program using climate, crop, and soil data of the study area for dry, normal and wet years. Amounts of seasonal irrigation water required were determined as 7047, 4605 and 3524 m³ ha^-1 for dry, normal, and wet years, respectively. Maximum amount of monthly irrigation water required in the study area was determined as 163 mm. According to this value, it was determined that the flow rate of main channel planned by Turkish State Water Services could meet the irrigation water requirements of the study area for dry, normal, and wet years.
