Abstract :
In this study, factors affecting the decision to accept organic farming by rural women were analyzed. The data were collected from 60 villages of 15 districts of follwoing cities: Erzurum, Erzincan and Bayburt in eastern Anatolia. The data finally have 158 observations after deleting outliers and missing observations. Illiteracy rate among women was 41.8%, while household income ranged between 500-669 Turkish Lira (TL) comprises of 50.7% of all families surveyed. 30.9% of farmers have 6-20 da lands, while 63.3% of families operate on their own land in relation to 30.9% renters. Results show that land operated with shareholders are not common in the region. According to the results using the logistic regression analysis, rural women who are younger with higher income and educations, farmers having more amount of lands, engaged in agricultural activities for commercial purposes, watching television more often, and participating in the training, and residing in the province of Erzurum, are more likely to engage in organic farming than their corresponding peers .
