Abstract :
This study was carried out field conditions at Ata Botanical Park of Atatürk University, in 2011-2012. The Fern strawberry cultivar which has high yield potential in Erzurum conditions and five new strawberry cultivars (Sweet Ann, Crystal, Redlands Hope, Kabarla and Rubygem) was used. The research plots were established in 2011, clusters of flowers was plucked and there has not been evaluation the yield and quality in this year. The lowest yield of per plant was obtained from Rubygem (98.6g), the highest yield of per plant was obtained from Kabarla cultivar (296.2g), the smallest fruit was obtained from Fern (6.2g) and the largest fruit was obtained from Sweet Ann cultivar (9.0g) in the second year. The least number of fruit in Rubygem (11.8 number), the most number of fruit in Fern cultivar (42.3 number), the lowest puncture resistance of fruit in Redlands Hope (67.4 g/1.75 mm-tip), the highest puncture resistance of fruit in Crystal cultivar (92.5 g/1.75 mm-tip) was determined in the study. The least number of siblings in young plants was determined in Rubygem (2.1 number) while the highest number of siblings in young plants was determined in Kabarla and Sweet Ann cvs. (3.3 number). There was important differences as statistically in termof the marketable yield and the highest values in Redlands Hope (94.9%), the lowest values in Fern (81.6%) was obtained. The content of TSS and pH in fruit juice were significantly different. The value of TSS has ranging ratio from 7.3% (Kabarla) to 9.5% (Rubygem). The value of pH ranging ratio from 2.3 (Kabarla) to 2.9 (Rubygem). The content of ascorbic acid in fruit between cultivars were statistically significant. The lowest content of ascorbic acid was obtained from Redlands Hope (38mg/100ml) and the highest content of ascorbic acid was obtained from Crystal (56mg/100ml). As a result of this study, it was determined to the new strawberry cultivars such as Kabarla, Crystal and Sweet Ann may be an alternative to Fern strawberry cultivar in Erzurum conditions.
