Title Of Article :
Scheduling Şanlıurfa Pepper (Capsicum annum L.) Irrigation with Drip Irrigation
Abstract :
Irrigation is one of the most significant input in agricultural production to provide yield increase and various cropping patters. Plant water requirements should be met at desired periods with desired amounts without causing any environmental problems. This study was carried out over the experimental fields Harran University Agricultural Faculty to determine the proper drip irrigation scheduling for Şanlıurfa pepper (Capsicum annum L.). Three different irrigation intervals (2,4 and 6 days) and three different plant pan coefficients ((Kcp1=1.25, Kcp2=1.00 and Kcp3=0.75) were taken into consideration in this study. Amount of irrigation water to be applied was calculated by using free-water surface evaporation values corrected with plant cover ratios. Amount of applied irrigation water varied between 652-1010 mm and seasonal water consumption varied between 726-1069 mm. Yields from treatments were between 2444 – 4703 kg/da. Total water use efficiency (WUE) was 2.75-5.22 kg/da/mm, irrigation water use efficiency (IWUE) was 3.03-5.81 kg/da/mm, ration of irrigation water to evapotranspiration (I/ET) was between 85-96%. It was concluded in this study under Harran Plain conditions that irrigation interval for pepper should be selected as 2 days, plant coefficient should be prefered as 1.25 and amount of irrigation water should be calculated with a plant cover ratio correction.
