Socio-economic Analysis Of Dry Onion Growing Farms According To Risk Attitude In Amasya Province
Abstract :
In this study, it is aimed to determine of risk behaviors, capital structures and annual performances on dry onion growing farms in Amasya province. The data, used in the study are belong to the 2007–2008 production period and were obtained through questionnaire from 101 farms, selected by stratified sampling method. Reference game and preference curve were used for determining of risk behaviors of farmers. According to the study results, it was determined that 36 farms were risk lover group and 65 farms were risk averse group. Average farm land size is 198 da for farms that are risk lovers and 155 da for those that are risk averse. Nearly 99% of the land has field land characteristics. Dry onion areas constitute 21% of the total farm land of risk lover and 27% of the total farm land of risk averse. The study results showed that risk lover farms had more income. Agricultural incomes are TL 18662 for risk lover and TL 13029 for risk averse. Total family incomes per capita are TL 3853 for risk lover and TL 3347 for risk averse.
