Abstract :
The effects of soil tillage practices on evapotranspiration, yield and quality of cauliflower were investigated in this study the actual evapotranspiration (ETc) of the second crop cauliflower was determineted according to water balance equation, the reference evapotranspiration (ET0) was calculated using the FAO Penman-Monteith equation using climatic data. In the experiment, evapotranspiration values and yield parameters of cauliflower were compared under tillage and no-tillage conditions. The changes of soil moisture in soil profile were observed by gravimetric method and tensiometers. The research was conducted at the Directorate of Agriculture Practice and Research Center field of Gaziosmanpaşa University in a randomized complete block experiment design with three replications in August-November season of 2011. The cauliflower in this experiment was grown as a second crop following winter wheat. The seasonal ETc values of 195,5 and 201,8 mm under tilled, and notill soil conditions, respectively, were determined. The seasonal ET0 was calculated as 258,8 mm. In addition, the seasonal Ep was measured as 295,4 mm by using Class A pan. Seasonal crop coefficient was determined as 0,78 in notill application and 0,76 in till application for cauliflower in Tokat conditions. The seasonal pan coefficient was obtained as 0,88. In this research, the diameter of curd, leaf number, plant height, marketable curd weight and marketable yield characteristics under notill condition were higher than those of till conditions.
