Abstract :
This study was conducted to determine the most proper pasture mixtures for the native pastures degraded by cultivating or whose vegetation had been previously destroyed in Amasya province during the years of 2008 and 2010. In the research, pure sowings, and binary, ternary and quartet mixtures of alfalfa, sainfoin, great burnet, crested wheatgrass, smooth brome, orchardgrass and tall fescue were investigated. The study was arranged in a completely randomized block design. The highest dry matter yield with 1166.0 kg da^-1 was obtained from the mixture of alfalfa + great burnet + smooth brome + orchardgrass. The lowest dry matter yield (594.3 kg da^-1) was obtained from the pure sowing of orchardgrass. Crude protein yields, ADF ratios, NDF ratios and IVTDMD ratios ranged between 66.7 kg da^-1 and 186.1 kg da^-1, 34.16% and 41.84%, 45.82% and 68.37%, 54.30% and 72.41%, respectively. Dry matter yields of mixtures were determined higher than pure sowed species. The highest ratios of ADF and NDF were obtained from pure sowings of grass species. ADF and NDF ratios of mixtures were determined lower than pure sowings of grasses but higher than legumes and great burnet. IVTDMD ratios of mixtures were higher than the pure sowings of grasses and lower than legumes and great burnet. According to the results of research, one of the ternary mixtures alfalfa + great burnet with any of crested wheatgrass, smooth brome and orchardgrass species could be suggested for dry pastures.
