مرکز منطقه ای اطلاع رساني علوم و فناوري - Present Status and Problems of Agricultural Tool and Machinery Manufacturing Industry in Kayseri Province

Abstract :

A survey study was conducted to investigate the current state of agricultural machinery manufacturing industry in Kayseri province, to assess the production potential and present problems of the industry. Face-to-face interviews were carried out with manufacturers about their machinery-tool assets, current manufacture and technical capacity, energy consumption, type of manufacture, marketing opportunities, structural characteristics and encountered problems. Current findings revealed that present manufacturers were not able to meet the machinery and tool demand of the region, they were supplying production raw materials and other materials generally from surrounding provinces, they didn’t have sufficiently information and knowledge about supports and grants. It was also observed that manufacturing firms did not have sufficient number of qualified employees and produced limited number and type of certain machinery. Considering the agricultural production potential of the region, number of firms with sufficient technical capacity and their product ranges should be improved. Employees should be trained to improve their technical knowledge and experiences. Besides, innovative and entrepreneur aspects of the firms should be developed and they should be informed and supported on these issues.
