Abstract :
Security, one of the most important parameters of engineering, is an inevitable parameter in terms of driving safety on roads. The three main factors that affect driving safety are people, vehicles and roads. The skid factor value decreased during the service life of road factor has become the main topic of our study while road factor among these factors is be mentioned in this study. In order to ensure safe driving on the road, the skid resistance between the vehicle wheel bandage and the road surface must be at a certain level. Studies in this area have shown that there is a significant relationship between the decrease in skid resistance and the increase in traffic accidents.In this study, measurements were made with British Pendulum Test (BPT), which is the best known in the world and widely used in research studies, in the city of Kecioren in the province of Ankara. The results obtained from the determined streets have been shown that skid potential values of urban asphalt coatings for Kecioren Municipality are within the limits of the literature.
