Abstract :
Objective:This pilot study was carried out to determine nursing students’ status of identifying nursing diagnosis and interventions on cases for trauma patient prepared in scope of Leonardo da Vinci Transfer of Innovation Project titled The Use of Simulation: An Educational Strategy to Develop Clinically Competent Nurses. Method: This descriptive study comprised of 168 nursing students who undergraduate level nursing education in North East Anatolian, East Anatolian and Mediterrian region of Universities. Data was collected through a scenario based case form prepared for pelvic fracture, abdominal trauma, traumatic amputation and thorax trauma. Data were collected between 1-30 April 2011. At evaluation of the data were used percentage and average test. Results: More than of the students (50%) given correct answers to questions which were related to cases in the form of diagnose, also defined that most of them were not ranged priority range of nursing diagnosis according to determined by them, and also stated that only airway clearance and respiratory assessment interventions were identified correctly pointed out the priority list. Conclusion: It was said that nursing students had sufficient theoretical knowledge, but insufficient determined to nursing diagnosis, planned to intervention and defined the priorities in cases of trauma.
