Abstract :

Patient safety is one of the current and important subjects that have been at stake within the context of improving the quality of health care in recent years. Decreasing and even eliminating the medical errors is the main target of patient safety. Medical error is the impairment of patient by non-professional and non-ethical behavior of a health professional due to incompetence and neglectful acts in professional applications. Error reporting systems are used for decreasing and eliminating the medical errors. Compulsory and voluntary reporting methods are used for medical errors reports. Error frequency would inevitably be reduced in a health system where especially the near miss errors are reported. From this regard, it is quite important to support the training of employees and provision of a quality care. It can only be realized with the use of reporting methods that the managers would develop strategies to promote error reports in the health system. Review article discussed in this context, the definition of medical errors, classification, notification and reporting barriers, reporting and contributions of nurses in the health care system, and administrator notification is to transfer driving strategies.
