Abstract :
Objective: This study was designed as cross-sectional with the aim of determining fall risks of patients according to Hendrich II Fall Risk Scale and Morse Fall Scale and their sensitivity for determinationol falls. Method: A total of 130 patients constituted study sample. Data were collected with a questionnaire form including sociodemographic features and risk factors for falling, Morse Fall Scale and Hendrich II Fall Risk Scale and evaluated with percentage and ROC analysis. Results: Meanage of the subjects participated in the study was 60.09±18.98.40.8% of the individuals were detected to have a history of fall and 23.1% were detected to have falled during previous month. Falls were detected in 5.4% (n=7) of the patients during observations aiming determination of fall risk. Sensitivity of Hendrich II Fall Scale and Morse Fall Risk Scale were found as 42.9% and 85.7%, respectively. Conclusion:Fall risk and ratio of the patients are high in the studied clinics. Thus determination of the patients with fall risk using nurse fall risk determination tools is of importance. Both scales were seen not to be effective for determining patients with fall risk.
