Abstract :
Objective: This research has been aimed to evaluate the critical thinking dispositions of nurses and nursing students’ This is a descriptive study . Method: The sample for the study consisted 143 nurses who are graduated with on bachelor of science degree in nursing and 56 fourth years students studying. The data have been collected with the Descriptive Information Form and the California Critical Thinking Disposition Inventory in 2005 years. Data evaluated by using t-test, ANOVA, chi-square and correlation. Results: In the study, it has been found that the critical thinking dispositions of nurses (261.1±23.4) and nursing students (277.0±19.7) are moderate level. This research has significantly indicated that the students’ total scores with sub-scale scores of the open-mindedness, truth seeking, systematicity, and inquisitiveness are higher than the nurses’. Nurses who have participated at least one activity or more in out institutions, have had a high mean total points than those have not participated. Conclusion: To be able to improve the critical thinking, there should be used educational models and techniques that provide or trigger thinking, and institutional politics including training and practice that give nurses chance to improve their critical way of thinking during occupational life should be maintained.
