Abstract :
Aim: In this descriptive study it was aimed to assess the factors affecting the motivation levels of 621 nurses working in Gulhane Military Medical Faculty (GMMF) Training Hospital. Method: In the study, developed by Karakaya ve Ay “Motivation Factors Survey” was used. Factor analysis was used for testing of the research survey’s structural validity. In order to assess the reliability of the survey Cronbach Alpfa values were calculated. Descriptive statistics were shown with frequency, percentage, mean and standard deviation. T test and one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) were performed to compare the groups. Results: Factors affecting the motivation of the nurses’ were inspected under four mean factors (managerial application, operating conditions, workload properties, individual traits). In comparison of factors on the basis of nurses’ individual traits, Managerial Applications (factor-1)(x^2=10.792; p=0.013) and Workload Properties (factor-3) (x=18.715; p 0.001) differed statistically for the education variable, Individual Traits (factor-4) (x^2=6.100; p 0.047) differed statistically for the marital status variable. Conclusion: Factors such as “appreciation at work, to participate in decisions and using initiative and take care of employees, fair disciplinary procedures, get new skills, to adopt corporate vision, do your job with great care, adequacy information and experience for the job” have had highly positive effect on nurses’ motivation.
