Investigation of Anxiety Levels of Pregnant Women in Labor

Abstract :
Aim: This study was conducted with the aim of determining the factors affecting their anxiety levels of the pregnants in the act of birth. Method: This study which has sectional quality was carried on 130 pregnant women selected from those who apply to the hospital for labor between the dates 25^th June 2011 and 15^th August 2011. The data were collected by using Situational Anxiety Scale of Spielberg and a survey in the evaluation of the data, percentage, variance analysis and t-test were used. Findings: In the study, it was found out that 38.5% of the pregnants was in 20-24 age group, that 63.1% were primary school graduate and that 58.5% of the pregnants lived in city- center and that 48.5% of the pregnants became the first time pregnant. In addition, total score average of Situational Anxiety Scale of the pregnants was 40.88±6.25. there was a significant relationship between living place, educational situation and the number of pregnancies of the pregnants (p 0.05). In conclusion: It can be said that score averages of the pregnants obtained from Situational Anxiety Scale became moderate level, but those of living in villages and having low-educational level became high level.
