Traditional Methods Applied in Caring for Infants of Mothers in Karaman

Abstract
Objective: The mothers who have infant in the province of Karaman was planned to determine the traditional methods applied. Methods: In a descriptive cross-sectional study and the planned research was carried out with total of 443 mothers. Results: In the traditional method used in the baby care of mothers; salted (25.7%), powder used to protect the diaper rash (40.3%), swaddled (20.1%), antipyretic to reduce fever infants (17.8%), cold water (8.4%), and brine (8.7%) used, to bathe the baby s umbilical cord expected to fall (57.8%) were determined. Conclusion: The study included women who participated in a variety of traditional practices for the maintenance of infant, albeit lower rate is applied.
