Abstract :
Objective: The aim of this descriptive study was to examine the effect of blood pressure and pulse values on development of pressure sore in patients in the intensive care clinic. Method: The universe of the study consisted of the patients in the Intensive Care Unit of the Anaesthesia and Reanimation Department of a university hospital, and the sample was formed from 70 patients who were identified as being at high risk of pressure sore by the Braden Risk Evaluation Scale, were over the age of 18, did not have pressure sore, and who had been in hospital for at least 7 days. Data was collected daily from patient records using an Information Form developed by the researchers in line with the relevant literature, and the Braden Risk Assesment Scale, and patients were monitored as long as they remained in hospital or until they developed a pressure sore Result: The average age of patients was 56.27 ± 19.83 years, and 68.6% were male. The incidence of pressure sore in the study was found to be 28.6%. There was found to be no difference between the development of pressure sore in patients and their pulse and blood pressure values. Conlusion: No relationship was found in this study between blood pressure and pulse values and the development of pressure sore.
