Abstract :
Examining Practice Environments, Patient Safety Culture Perceptions and Burnout Status of Nurses Working in Surgical Clinics Objective: Is to examine practice environments, patient safety culture perceptions and burnout status of nurses working in surgical clinics. Method: This descriptive study was conducted between August 2012 and January 2013 with 308 nurses working in surgical clinics. A questionnaire on descriptive characteristics, MBI, the PES-NWI, and PSCS were used to the data of the study. Results: Regarding subscales of MBI, mean score of emotional exhaustion was 18.0±7.00, mean score of depersonalization was 6.36±3.57, and mean score of personal accomplishment was 19.41±4.68. Mean scores of subscales were calculated as maximum score of 4; while mean score of PES-NWI ranges between 2.55±.65 - 3.08±.53;; mean score of PSCS ranges between 2.45±.61- 2.68±.54. Conclusion: In line with these results, it is stated that safety culture perception and practice environment assessment are different based on institutions;the gender has an effect on emotional exhaustion; level of safety culture perception is not higher; and practice environments are positively perceived at moderate level.
