Validity and Reliability Study of Child- Adolescentsocial Support Scale for Health Behaviors
Abstract :
Objective:This study was conducted to evaluate Turkish adaptation, validity and reliability of Child Adolescent Social Support Scale for Health Behaviors. Method: This research was carried out methodologically to analyze validity and reliability of Child Adolescent Social Support Scale for Health Behaviors. Population of the study consisted of secondary school students in city center of Malatya between October 2013 and July 2014. After the translation to Turkish of the scale, content and construct validity were made. The content validity index was calculated after experts’ views for content validity. factor analysis were used for construct validity and the internal consistency and item analysis were used for reliability. Results: The content validity index was found as .99. Factor analysis, items were collected in 5 factors with eigen value over one. These 5 factors explained to 66.92% of total variance. The factor load ranged from 48-.89 in the factor analyses. 60-item Social Support Scale for Health Behaviors involves 5 subscales (mymother, myfather, myteachers, myclassmates, and myclose friends) according to factor analysis. Cronbach s Alpha coefficients were found to be 0.92 and 0.98 for the scale and its subscales. Conclusion: As a result of thestudy, it was determined that Child- Adolescent Social Support Scale for Health Behaviors was a validand reliable assessment tool for Turkish society.
