Abstract :
The purpose of this study is to analyze the perception that Gaziantep University students have on the university and the ideal university by using metaphors. It is thought that through metaphors students can express themselves more clearly. So according to this aim the students were demanded to produce metaphors about the concepts of “university social life, the relationship between lecturers and students and the ideal university social life in an ideal university the relationship between lecturers and students. In this study quantitative method and metaphor analysis technique are used for collecting and analyzing the data of the study. The participants of this study included second grade students of Gaziantep University-Educational Faculty. According to the results of the research it is seen that the metaphors which are produced by the students are varied. For some students Gaziantep University is an ideal university but for most students it is very different from an ideal university.
