Abstract :
One of the prominent playwrights of the post-1980 Turkish Theatre Behiç Ak tells the adverse effects of ego centric life styles on human realtions, nature and physical envi-ronment in his play Tek Kişilik Şehir. He humorously presents how people who are just focused on their egos, are alienated from each other and their environments.Since 1960s, when environmental prob-lems have become evident worldwide, ecolo-gical studies have come to the fore. And Ecocriticism has been put forward by consi-dering relations between environment and human as a literary theory in context of environmental-literature.In this study, based on environment and literature relationship, human and setting relationships in Behiç Ak’s play Tek Kişilik Şehir have been analayzed. First; environ-ment, ecology, and ecocriticism concepts have been emphasised, after having given sum-mary, the play has been evaluated under the titles of physical and personal settings, artifi-cial lives and bankruptcy of ecological system.
