Title Of Article :
The Analysis of Tebrizli Şems’s Ferace with the Empaty
Abstract :
In this writing, the effect of the Empathy theory, which is usually used in poet study, on relationship between men and the object has been studied. Empathy theory, developed by Volkelt and Th. Lipps, studies the bond men has establish with objects. The basis of identi-fication theory is formed by the reflection of subject psychology on objects. Tebrizli Şems to whom we relate this theory was born in Tebriz in 1185 and died in Konya in 1247. His real name is Muhammed Bin Ali.Şems lived in asceticism and abandoned the pleasures of the world. Şems, one of the most prominent figures of Tasavvuf, wore ferace which has different usages. Ferace is a dress worn by both men and women. The dress Şems wore was of the type that Mevlevi dervishes wore. Şems had his ferace on him even when he was about to die.The identification of Tebrizli Şems with his only dress ferace in his life is studied with the theory of Empathy. The reflection of men’s soul on objects and giving meanings to it is inevitable.Tebrizli Şems also reflected his soul on an object, his only pro-perty ferace. The bond established between the object and the subject makes it possible to give meaning to the object. Şems’ philosophy of life is in accordance with his ferace with which he is identified.
