Abstract
Mehmet Niyazi who is one of the most important Turkish novelists alive, narrates a significant part of 1877-1878 Ottoman Russian War in Rumelian front in his last novel called Plevna. Plevna is a momentous phase in the field of historical novel of the Turkish literature in terms of bringing national and moral values to forefront, not falling into the anachronism remaining faithful to the historical facts and not making the history a means of popular culture and magazine. Plevna which objectively and realistically reflects the one of the most dramatic incidents in recent history is a novel that patriotism, courage, love, belief and sacrifice have been monumentalized.
