  • Abstract
Studies done on vocabulary of Anatolian dialects indicate that there is a great deal of similarities between the vocabularies of the Turkic communities living in other countries. For instance, the word ḳuda used in matrimonial kinship means in law and mediator who goes to the girl’s family to ask for marriage can especially be seen among Tatar immigrants and in Eastern Anatolian dialects in Turkey. Ḳuda, first encountered in Mukaddimetü’l-Edeb, seems to be originated in Mongolian. In today’s modern Turkish dialects spoken outside Turkey usually the word ḳuda is used for in laws. Anatolian and Gagavuz branches of Oguz dialects prefer the word dünür. Even though, occasionally ḳuda / ġoda / ġuda are used throughout Eastern Anatolian dialects, they inhabited in those dialects with Mongol and Tatar effect after the İlhanlı state.
