Abstract :

The internationalization, which can be defined as international expansion, the transition from national to international level and benefiting from international opportunities, is a phenomenon that cannot be ignored. Rapid developments in information and communication technologies require a number of changes in higher education too, as in many fields, and contribute to the efforts made by the universities in order to have their say and share in ever increasing student mobility. In today’s world where 4,5-5 million international students have been educated in various universities, our country is endeavoring to increase the number of international students with the new policies and programs it has developed and giving a substantial support to the internationalization projects of the universities. In the internationalization process, Atatürk University, which has tremendously increased the number of international students and made bilateral agreements with a great number of higher education institutions in different countries of the world, intends to be efficient and effective with the units it has built and the projects it has developed. In this article, the process of internationalization in higher education has been discussed within the scope of Turkey and the world and the process of internationalization in Atatürk University has been presented with the data provided on the issue.
