Abstract :
Folk songs are products originating from the life of the people. Feelings, attitudes and behaviors, thoughts, joys, sorrows, hatred, hopes, beliefs about Event, situation, and attitudes and behaviors where people lived or witnessed in everyday life, clearly are reflected in in the folk song. Folk song because of its characteristics, is among the most common types of folk culture products. All characteristics of the Turkish nation and almost all constitutive material and spiritual elements of Turkish culture can be seen in the folk song. In this context, also mountains which have a separate position in Turkish culture from past to present we encountered with in various roles and functions in folk songs. Mountains, is one of the nature-related elements within the pre-Islamic Turkish belief system. Due to the earth huge hump properties that have all long it has been a mysterious place and presence for mankind. Mountains whit its heights, glory,snow on top, always with snow and rain, presentations of sheltering and feeding facilities to the animals that live in, along side being an indispensable element of the Turkish nomadic lifestyle, Depending on many reasons they create an alive and supreme asset belief in Turkish people social life. This belief, naturally, the Folk songs are products that originating from the people life. The people, Due to experienced events how did they perceive mountains reflected it on the song in the same way. Usually mountains, emerge as a sublime, holy, possessed of the will and power entity. People are begging the mountains to meet the part of demands and wishes. In the some of the songs mountains either itself is an obstacle or they prevent the realization of the wishes of the people with what they do. Furthermore, mountains are an entity that sometimes can be as ancestor, protective, sustaining, confidant, an entity that asylum in it, an entity that get the news from the sublimes or from distant lands. In this context, “mountain” symbol in the folk songs are examined and as a mystical element in the songs of Turkish folk culture has been determined that continue to exist.
