Abstract :
Writing a text does not mean putting sentences one after the other. The acceptability of successive sentences as a text depends on two closely related criteria: coherence and cohesion. Cohesion as a criterion of acceptability is assessed against the situation of production and comprehension of a text. In terms of cohesion, the linguistic material is assessed by the repetition of the theme provided by reference chains, tenses, connectors, and progression, which means the new information. Thus, these two concepts provide many resources for the didactics of written production in French as a Foreign Language. In this study, the rehearsal processes used by Turkish learners in their writing was analyzed in order to highlight the problems encountered during the production of narrative texts.
