Abstract :
Law takes an important place in individual, social and international relationships. Same as today, historically the importance of law to put the order of international law was undeniable, too. Law, with the treatments between countries, occurs a plenty of bilateral or more than two participants agreement between or among countries or societies. Ottoman Empire was the defender of law in relationships with its neighbours. Ottoman Empire never acted in a manner which rejects the law or as a country which breaks the agreement. It can be given two examples which show that Ottoman Empire cared about the law and respect in occurane of international law and in relationship with foreign countries. First: The Ottoman monarch Mustafa III. ; The founder of National Afghan State Ahmet Shah Dürrani’s ask for help from Ottoman monarch against Persian attack the city of Khorasan which belongs to Afghanistan. However, III. Mustafa rejected the ask for help of Shah by stating that He will adhere to the agreement. Second: Acording to the treaty of Küçük Kaynarca dated 1774, Kırım gained an autonomous khnate status. Neverthless Russia annexed Kırım in defiance of provision of treaty. Thereupon, Ottoman Empire sent a letter to Buhara Emiri about what have to be done to protect its rights against Russia which annex by overriding international laws.
