Abstract :
The memories above belong to Ensari Bülend Bey, the correspondent of Hâkimiyet-i Milliye, who was captured by revolters during Konya Rebellion of Delibas Mehmed. In order to fınd news for his newspaper, Ensari Bülend Bey came from Afyonkarahisar to Konya by train in September 29, 1920, and checked into Baghdad Hotel next to the railway station. n the city sightseeing tour he went on the following day, he met with his nephew whom he had never seen for a long time. During the chat, he received news from his nephew about the situation in Konya and strong rumours with regard to a rebellion movement that would break out in the city at that time. But he didn’t believe in these news. n his meeting with Konya Zone Commander Avni Bey, who was staying in the same hotel, however, he learned tlıat the news were correct. He suggested him to go with him or go to the nearby Gendarmerie School on condition that Avni Bey would want him to go to Alâeddin Tepe in order to resist to the rebellion movement on the evening of October 1. Having decided to go to the Gendarmerie School, Ensari Bülend Bey came across the revolters on the road. After a short fighting, he escaped and came to the Gendarmerie School. He resisted to the revolters with the restricted powers there. However, he was captured with his retinue after the revolters had attached to the building wholly. He was beated and robbed, and then imprisoned to the Piri Pasha Dervish Convent with the other sufferers from Konya. He was taken to a marsh area 20 km outside the city just about to be killed with the captive group. Meanwhile, he escaped death by means of Delibas Mehmed’s heading the revolters and explaining that he forgave them for Saraç Kemal’s intercession. When they returned to the city, he witnessed the revolters who came to know military forces went into Konya abandoned the group and escaped. These memories that transmit a special section of the Rebellion of Delibas Mehmed with vivid and fluent dialogues are so interesting in that a correspondent who came to Konya in order to find news found himself as a subject of news.
