Female leadership: The impact of the perception of the social role of gender
Abstract :
Does leadership have a gender? Although it seems absurd, this question is the subject ofseveral writings and comparative studies between leadership styles mobilized by women ormen. Although the literature emphasizes the lack of consensus on the existence of genderedinnate differences, this is not the case with regard to a gendered perception of the skills andcompetences of each gender. Indeed, there is a socially perceived incongruity between femalegender roles and leadership roles. This perceived incongruence makes it more difficult forwomen leaders, as they are expected to exhibit certain behaviors that do not match thebehaviors recognized by male-dominated leaders.
