The Effect Of Different Potassium Fertilizer On Some Elongation And Growing Properties Of Celosia Plumosa Cultivar
Abstract :
This study was conducted in the Greenhouses of Bayindir Vocational School, Aegean University, between February and October in 2008. The effect of different Potassium doses (50-100-200 300 mg K2O L^-1) and 5 different Celosia cultivars (Fresh Look Red, Fresh Look Yellow, Fresh Look Orange, Smart Look Red, New Look) on the vegetative and generative properties of Celosia plumosa were tested in the experiment. For this aim, the date of emergence, germination, budding, flowering, plant height characteristic, seed yield and thousands of kernel weight were determinated. Results indicated that cultivars and fertilizer treatments were significantly effective on those traits. Flowering period was longest (87 days) in Smart Look Red whereas shortest is Fresh Look Orange (77 days). Plant height was highest (27.3 cm) in Fresh Look Red and highest seed yield (0.41 g.) were determined also in New Look fertilized with 200 mg K20 L^-1.
