Abstract :
Ivory Coast, a country in West Africa, is multilingual with some 60 local languages (Delafosse 1904). Among these, some have a large number of speakers (baoulé, dioula ...), while others, at the finding of the low percentage of their speakers, can be qualified as minority (éotilé, bèrè ...). So what would be the impact of the number of speakers of a language on its vitality, especially when it is a minority language? In this article, we analyze the degree of vitality of a kru language of Ivory Coast having 3249 speakers, that is 0,01% of the national territorial population: the kouzié. The aim is to observe whether there is a correlation between the number of speakers of a language and its dynamism in a multilingual environment.
