Abstract :
Aim. In this study, we aimed to investigate the clinical features of 100 female patients and the first symptoms caused the patients seek medical help and the frequency of these symptoms. Methods. According to the 1990 American College of Rheumatology (ACR) diagnosis criteria 100 female patients with fibromyalgia are included to this study.In this study the age,the educatıon,first symptoms, weakness and tiredness, morning stifness, disturbance of sleep, anxiety, increase in clinical complains with stress , headache, paresthesia, dismenorrhea, soft tissue edema, irritable bowel syndrome, restless leg syndrome, and Raynaud phenomenon of the patients are evaluated. Results. We included in the study only the female patients and the average age was 32.8+8.25 years. First and the most frequent symptom in the patients with fibromyalgia was found as pain in the neck and back in 32 patients. The number of aching points in patients was found as 14.23±1.75. In this study we also found that there were weakness and tiredness in 86 patients (86%), increase in clinical complains with stress, in 79 patients (79%), paresthesic complaints in 71 (71%) patients, migraine and headache without migraine in 70 (70%) patients, morning stifness in 69 (69%) patients, disturbance of sleep in 68 (68%) patients, soft tissue edema in 54 (54%) patients, anxiety in 52 (52%) patients, dismenorrhea in 52 (52%) patients, irritable bowel syndrome in 43 (43%) patients, restless leg syndrome in 32 (32%) patients and Raynaud phenomenon in 25 (25%) patients. Conclusion. Because of the variety of symptoms in FM patients, many different doctors can apply. This time of patients diagnosed early diagnosis and treatment of longer duration must be for a multidisciplinary approach.
