Abstract :
Aim. To determine the effect of tear function on central corneal thickness values in eyes with pseudoexfoliation syndrome. Method. Fifty eight eyes of 47 patients with pseudoexfoliation syndrome were included in the study. Central corneal thicknesses values and Schirmer, break-up time tests were also recorded. The participants were divided into two groups. These were BUT scores 10s, (n=27) and BUT scores 10s (n=31). The central corneal thicknesses were compared between groups. The participants were also divided into two according to the Schirmer as group I scores 15mm, (n=27) and group II scores 15mm (n=31). The central corneal thicknesses were compared between the groups. Results. There were no significant differences in age, gender and intra ocular pressure between the groups (p 0.05). The mean central corneal thickness of the group that BUT scores 10s (517.7±33.7μm) was not significant than the group that BUT scores 10s (516.9±31.5μm) (p 0.05). The mean central corneal thickness of the group that Schirmer scores 15mm (515.8±31.3μm) was not significant than the group that Schirmer scores 15mm (522.5±33.2μm) (p 0.05). Conclusions. We found that there was no effect of tear function on central corneal thickness values in patient with pseudoexfoliation syndrome.
