Abstract :
Aim. Patch test results changes with geographical distribution, living conditions, occupational factors, industrial condition. The aim of this study was to determine the distribution of allergen which react to patch test analyzed according to variable like age, sex, disease duration, personal and familial atopy, additional disorder, using perfume, cologne and make up. Method. In this study, we evaluated the results of 400 patients that requested our clinic between September 2007 and November 2009 and applied patch test with the diagnosis of allergic contact dermatitis. Patch tests by using European Standard Series which is consisted of 23 standard allergens were performed. Result. We detected reaction in order of frequency for nickel sulphate, cobalt chloride, potassium bichromate, tiuram mix, formaldehyde, balsam of peru and fragrance mix in patch test application. Positive reaction to nickel sulphate and methylisotiazolinone was higher in patient with familial atopy. Nickel sulphate was found more frequently in younger women, potassium bichromate was found more frequently in middle age men. In 16 (4%) patient was observed triple reaction that nickel sulphate, potassium bichromate and cobalt chloride. Patients who showed positive reaction to nickel sulphate were more frequently using jewelry and living urban than other. Conclusion. In spite of patch test is most variable diagnostic test detailed investigation that patient’s occupation, atopy story, duration of disease, disease course and contact story of suspicious allergen is very important.
