Evaluation of Some of Physical and Chemical Characteristics of Yayladağı Irrigation Pond (Hatay)
Abstract :
In this study, it was aimed to evaluate the Yayladağı Irrigation Pond constructed on Brook Kureyşi within the borders of Güzelyurt village of Yayladağı district of Hatay city from the aspects of table water, domestic water, and aquaculture by determining physical and chemical changes in water as a result of analysis of water samples taken from 2 stations representing the whole of pond during a year between April 2003 and March 2004. As a result of analysis of water samples taken from 2 stations representing the whole of pond during a year in Yayladağı Irrigation Pond, it has been determined that the pond is suitable for warm-water aquaculture it is also suitable for cold-water aquaculture in spring, autumn and winter seasons, and a database has been constructed to be used in other water quality studies, especially the future aquaculture activities in this region.
