Abstract
Antibiotics used for growing animals and overcoming some health problems in livestock sector has been used as a growth factor in animal breeding. Antibiotics used in animal breeding/ feeding were forbidden to be used as a growth factor notably in European countries and America and also in Turkey because these antibiotics caused the pathogen microorganisms to gain resistance to antibiotics and threaten human health by leaving residues in products from those animals. This affected the feeding programmes aiming fast live weight with less feedstuff in a very short time and caused big economic losses. Because of these reasons, researchers have started to looking for natural feed additives which would not affect human health negatively and replace antibiotics. Studies done on some herbal extracts used in poultry feeding were evaluated in this compilation.
