THE EFFECTS OF DIFFERENT DOSES OF ORGANIC NPK FERTILIZER ON YIELD AND YIELD COMPONENTS IN STINGING NETTLE (Urtica dioica L.)
Abstract :
The demand for organic textile products has increased the requirements of plants to be used for fiber raw material. Nettle is one of the natural fiber plants, alternative to cotton in some areas where cotton cultivation could not been performed. Growing stinging nettle plants to produce fiber material has gained importance, particularly on the assessment of the use of the marginal areas. This study was carried out to determine the effects of different doses of organic-based NPK fertilizer (0, 10, 15 and 20 kg/da) on yield and some agronomic characters of nettle during the 2009-2010 year. Plant height, stem thickness, stem number per plant, green biomass yield and dry stem yield were studied as experimental parameters. The best values for those parameters were obtained from an application dose of 20 kg/da. The second approach will be trying to obtain fiber material from stinging nettle.
