Abstract :
In this study, yield and its components, genotype x environment interactions and stabilities of barley cultivars were determined. In the research, twelve genotypes (Fahrettinbey, Cumhuriyet-50, Ozdemir-05, Kalaycı-97, Cıldır-02, Đnce- 04, Efes-98, Erciyes, Cumra-2001, Sladoran, Tarm-92 and Tokak-157/35) were grown at two different locations (Gelemen and Bafra) in 2007-2008 and at five different locations (Gelemen, Bafra, Gokhoyuk, Suluova and Tokat) in 2008-2009 growing season. This study was conducted in a completely randomized block design with four replications. The traits investigated in the study were: duration of heading, duration of ripening, plant height, the number of spikes per square meter, spike length, the number of grains per spike, the weight of grains per spike, harvest index, grain yield, grain largeness levels, 1000 kernel weight, hectoliter weight and protein levels. Only grain yield values were given in this paper due to page limitation. The stability evaluation methods and adaptation parameters to measure stabilities of genotypes were performed according to the Finlay and Wilkinson (1963), Eberhart and Russell (1966), Perkins and Jinks (1968), Baker (1969), Wricke (1962), Shukla (1972), Francis and Kannenberg (1978) and Huhn (1979). It was determined that the effects of genotype, environment and genotype x environment interaction on grain yield were statistically significant at 1% level of probability. Each cultivar had different adaptation and stability levels for different traits. Grain yield varied from 2178.8 to 6598.1 kg per hectare. Bafra 2 location had the highest grain yield (5407.0 kg/ha) while Suluova location had the lowest grain yield (2867.9 kg/ha). Fahrettinbey variety had the highest yield (5075.1 kg/ha), whereas Cıldır-02 had the lowest grain yield (3505.5 kg/ha) for all environments. According to most of stability methods used for grain yield in the present study, Kalaycı-97 and Ince-04 appeared to have a good level of general adaptation and stability to all environments.
