DETERMINATION OF SOME AGRICULTURAL TRAITS OF CORIANDER (Foeniculum vulgare Mill. var. Dulce) LINES DEVELOPED FOR THE MIDDLE BLACK-SEA REGION OF TURKEY AND STABILITY ANALYSIS ON THE YIELD AND QUALITY TRAITS
Abstract :
Fennel, which belongs to the family Apiaceae (Umbelliferae), is an important spice plant. The Western Asia and Mediterranean countries are known as the native land of it. Fennel, which is cultivated to a limited extent in Turkey, is also grown in the Black Sea Region. In this study, the stability parameters and adaptation capabilities of 9 lines, which have been obtained by pure line selection method and a control variety (Afyon population) were determined in different environmental conditions. While the lines named 55B127, 55B197 and 55A69 were found to be the most stable lines in terms of volatile oil content, the line 55A69, which gave the greatest yield, well adapted to all environmental conditions with respect to volatile oil content. Even though the line 55A69 showed a good response to all environment conditions, its yield was negatively influenced by arid environment conditions.
