مرکز منطقه ای اطلاع رساني علوم و فناوري - SHEEP FLOCK MANAGEMENT: CASE OF KARAMAN PROVINCE

Abstract :

In this study, it is aimed that reveal the structure of sheep flocks in sheep raising enterprises in Karaman province. In this context, total of 50 sheep raising enterprises is chosen by Simple Random Sampling Method in Karaman province. A survey is conducted to obtain information regarding flock management, purchasing and grazing animals status, tools and equipment of sheep enterprises health protection and feed utilization status, usage of education and communication instruments. Reasons for starting sheep raising we can order fathers’ profession at ratio of 64%, additional income 20%, start a new work 10% and other reasons 6%. Enterprises which become a member of Sheep and goat breeders association (DKKYB) is %44. Pasture utilization was realized 76% of the enterprises. Those sheep milk feed rate is 58%. It is obtained that 6% of enterprises have used computer about sheep flock management and get training before.
