    Physical and biochemical characteristics of some walnut genotypes selected from Çal (Denizli) region

  • Abstract
    The present study was conducted to investigate the physical and biochemical characteristics of 25promising walnut genotypes obtained through selections. Among the physical characteristics, thefruit weight, kernel weight, kernel ratio and geometric mean diameter of investigated genotypesvaried respectively between 10.86-16.28 g, 5.79-7.69 g, 42.12-56.57% and 32.76-37.79 mm. Crude as ratio of selected genotypes varied between 0.7-1.8%, protein ratios varied between 9.22-18.81% and oil ratios varied between 47.2-80.3%. Among the saturated fatty acids, palmitic acid contentswere determined as between 4.78-8.62 % and stearic acid contents varied between 1.95-3.53%. Of the unsaturated fatty acids, oleic acid contents varied between 13.38-30.97%, linoleic acid contents varied between 47.38-65.98% and linolenic acid contents varied between 7.1-13.94.
