Abstract :
In this study, it was aimed to determine the spatial variation of Fe and Mn contents of the soil in the paddy fields in Alaçam district. Soil samples were taken from 54 different points and four different depths (0-30 cm, 30-60 cm, 60-90 cm, 90-120 cm) in order to represent study areas. Six different interpolation methods were compared to determine the optimum method for spatial distribution. Radial Base Function (RBF), Inverse Distance Weight (IDW), Ordinary Kriging (OK), Simple Kriging (SK), Universal Kriging (UK) and Co-Kriging (COK) methods were used in this study. Root Mean Squared Error (RMSE) and Mean Absolute Error (MAE) were used to determine the most appropriate interpolation method. Fe and Mn maps were prepared according to the best method determined. The RMSE values for the different depths of Fe distribution were calculated as 8,402, 8,371, 4,500 and 3,615, respectively. RBF, IDW and SK methods were determined as the best for Fe distribution at end of the evaluations. The RMSE values were calculated for the Mn distribution from the top to the bottom soil layers as 10,098, 10,668, 15,434 and 12,921, respectively. According to the Fe maps prepared using the best methods for all layers, the deficieny of Fe contents distribution varied between 35.325- 17479.329 da. Similarly the Mn deficiency areas were varied between 222,265-4229,97 da. As a result, while preparing the spatial distribution maps with the data obtained from pointwise sampling studies the determination of the best interpolation method is of great importance from the point of the accuracy of the study.
