Abstract :
This study was conducted to determine the quality degree of rangeland and hay quality of ranges found at at eight different altitudes of Karacadag which is located between Diyarbakir-Sanliurfa. The mean quality degrees of the rangelands for first and second years were found to be 2.19 and 4.53 respectively and mean of these years’ quality degree was 3.36. In the first year of the study, quality of rangelands located at 1013, 1099 and 1887 m altitudes was determined to be “very poor” and others were determined to be “poor”, in the second year, rangelands with altitudes 1013, 1099, 1169 and 1282m were in “moderate” condition, on the other hand the rangelands with altitudes 1510, 1610 and 1887 were in “poor” condition. According to results of the study, for all ranges, following mean ratios were obtained; crude protein ( CP)19.19%, acid detergent fiber (ADF): 29.78%, neutral detergent fiber (NDF): 47.76%, digestible dry matter (DDM): 65.70%, dry matter intake (DMI): 2.67%, relative feed value (RFV): 137.7, phosphorus (P) : 0.34% potassium (K): 2.42%, calcium ratio (Ca): 1.09% and magnesium (Mg) : 0.31%
