Title Of Article :

Abstract :
In this study, dynamic diffusion and adsorption behavior of volatile organic compound (VOC), toluene, in various gypsums having porous structure were investigated by a single-pellet moment technique. The experimental studies were performed a one sided single-pellet Wicke-Kallenbach diffusion/adsorption cell at atmospheric pressure. Nitrogen was used as carrier gas. The gas analyses of VOCs were measured by using GC. 2 μl pulses of toluene were injected in the cell inlet. The signals received from GC detector were converted to response peaks by using a data accusation card and a computer. The adsorption equilibrium constant and effective diffusivities of toluene were estimated by moment analyses of the response peaks. The experiments were carried out at different gas flow rates (8.34x10^-7-2.92x10^-6 m³/s). The temperatures investigated ranged from 298 to 333 K for toluene. It was observed that toluene adsorption decreased with increasing temperature. The highest toluene adsorption occurred in the construction plaster and machine plaster, while the lowest toluene adsorption occurred in the thermal insulation plaster. The effective diffusivities of toluene increased with increasing temperature.
