Title Of Article :
INVESTIGATION OF STRUCTURAL AND TRIBOLOGICAL PROPERTIES OF CrN COATED PURE TITANIUM
Abstract :
Surface treatments and coatings are the practical applications used to extend the lifetime of engineering materials especially used in corrosive and friction/contact applications. PVD coatings are one of the most wear resistance coatings widely used in many practical mechanical applications. In the present study, the surface of commercial pure (Grade 2) titanium was coated with CrN by physical vapor deposition (PVD). The friction and wear properties of the CrN coated samples were investigated for tribological applications. Surface morphology and microstructure of the CrN coated samples were analyzed by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). In addition, tribological properties were investigated using pinon- disc tribometer. It was observed that the wear resistance and surface hardness values of coated samples were higher than the uncoated samples values.
