Abstract :
Water pollution of Uluabat Lake was analyzed seasonally and assessed in accordance with Turkish legislation and international criteria. Concentrations of conventional parameters were detected higher depending on pollution increase in summer season. When the conventional parameters and heavy metals were assessed in compliance with Turkish regulations considering agricultural irrigation, lake water quality was in fourth class. Similarly, Lake water has exceeded limit values of Fisheries Regulation and TS266 (Turkish potable water standard). Also lake water quality was in fourth class water according to Inland Water Quality Criteria. Depending on international standards As, B, Ni, Pb, and Cd elements concentrations showed higher values in comparison with WHO drinking water standards. Besides, Zn, Cr, Cu and Pb concentrations have higher values than USEPA water quality criteria chronic values. Especially, Zn has a concentration value higher than the value of acute effect.
