DOPPLER ULTRASONOGRAPHIC COMPARISON OF EFFECTS OF POSTERIOR WALL DARN, LICHTENSTEIN, PLUG MESH REPAIR ON TESTICULAR ARTERY FLOW RATE IN INGUINAL HERNIA REPAIR
Abstract :
Objective: The purpose of this study was to investigate whether an inguinal hernia surgery would have an impact on the testicular blood flow, using scrotal Doppler ultrasonography (USG).Materials and Methods: According to Nyhus Type 2-3 classification, 30 patients were divided into 3groups. Each group had 10 patients as follows; Group I : Darn repair Group II : Lichtenstein repairGroup III: Plug mesh repair Results: The effects of Darn repair, Lichtenstein repair and Plug mesh repair methods used in the surgical treatment of inguinal hernia on the blood flow of testicular arteries using scrotal Doppler ultrasonography, were evaluated. There were no significant differences between each group, concerning the resistance index (RI) of testicular volume and testicular blood flow on the scrotal Doppler ultrasonography. Conclusion: In this study, it is concluded that no negative effect of synthetic mesh is seen on the testicular blood flow in inguinal hernia surgery.
